Can someone explain to me the method because I tried to sand one of my IDs just now and it's just left more threads on the edges???

Have you tried using a razor blade?

Don't know what went wrong but it started to lift the laminate so I just stopped, hopefully the knife works better than this did because my IDs have a fair amount of threads stringing from them.
